Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click: An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with "My buddies and I were out drinking one night," to the egotistical "B" celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC's, FWD's and inadvertent Reply to All's, readers will root for Renee to "click" with the right man
When I first read the blurb for this book, I knew I would love it, and it did not disappoint! The synopsis coupled with the amazing cover; made “click” a definite must read for me. The two clicker’s together conjoining to make the heart was just too cute, right? Plus the idea of finding love online is something that my friends and I joke about all the time. I think it’s a great idea, my friends not so much. But statistics show that one out of every relationship is made online. It sounds like online dating is the new way to find love.
Man was I scared to read a book told entirely through emails. I thought that it would lack detail and that I would never get into it. I’m excited to say that I was wrong! Once you get used to the format, the story progresses with ease and you really get to see the character’s personality come out through each email.
Renee, the main character is turning 30 and decides to look for love through an online dating site with her good friend Mark. Her friend Shelley (who runs through men like water) is there for moral support and some good laughs. Ashley (nicknamed "the nun"); her childhood friend has a completely different personality than Shelley so they tend to clash a lot (which I got a good laugh out of). Mark (the anal-compulsive guy) decided from New Year’s he would look for love online, yet didn’t want to do it alone. Together this group of friends remind me of the girls from Sex and the City, except one of the girls is a guy, and they’re based in LA :D This book made me think of my best friends and all the things we say or do to each other.
I felt like this was the story that just kept on giving. Not only did I love all of the characters, but reading about some of the dates she went on and some of the people she met was just hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud way more than I ever thought I would. I love the connection she makes with some of the guys and how she tells others off, brilliant! I must say since I’m in love with the other characters as well that I would love reading a story with each of them as the main character.
Overall, this was a fun, sweet and easy read! Perfect for summer! It turned me from a skeptic into a believer, and if you want to laugh out loud, then “click” the link and buy it! I really recommend this story! Perfect mix of romance and comedy.
I was a little sad because of the way it ended but then I got so excited when I heard that there will be a sequel!!!!!
